Posted 6/9/10 Here is a link for the 7th grade boys teams schedule for the Nolan Catholic League. I apologize for late notice but I received no notice that the schedule had been posted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted 6/7/10 I would like to thank all Team Ichiban parents and players for a another great weekend of basketball! All teams in the program represented themselves well again this past weekend at the "BACK TO SUMMER SPLASH" hosted to Texas Express. Ichiban Elite girls went 4-1 going undefeated in pool play and losing in the championship game. The 14u girls went 2-1 and finished in 3rd place. The 3rd grade team went 1-3 playing in the 5th grade division. This team has so much potential. The team is made up of 2 first grader, 2 second graders and 4 3rd graders and 1 4th grader. Team battled hard all weekend and continues to gain the admiration of a lot of teams that they play. On the boys side Ichiban 17u boys team went 3-1 and lost in the finals. The 15u boys team had good showing even though they went 0-3. Each event these young men have gotten better losing 2 games by less then 6pts in each game. Again, I would like to say thank you to all parents of Team Ichiban for such great support of your kids and of the Ichiban program. I would like to thank all those who worked this weekend stepping in to cover tables or any other task that needed to be done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Team Ichiban boys 17u team win their 2nd tournament in a row taking the Oklahoma Elite Tournament going 3 and 1 Beating the first team that we lost to in the championship game! I am very proud of these young men and how they are buying into the system. Next up for these young men is the Gary Blevins Memorial Weekend Tournament in Frisco. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a great weekend of bball for Ichiban program. The newly formed 16u boys team (pictured above) went 5-0 this past weekend to win its first event of the summer beating several very good programs (Mansfield Select, Texas Crossover & Urban DFW Elite in the championship game). The 15u boys who have added several new players to the roster, played at Beckley-Saner & lost in the semi-final 44-51 (Look out for this team when the new kids get the system down they will be tough). 14u girls team had a very strong showing losing in the 15u bracket championship game to the Sparks. 7th grade boys team playing in their first event of the summer showed a lot of promise even though we went 0-3. I am very happy with the progress of the team so far this season. 5th grade boys team went 0-3 in their debut. This team played short handed this weekend & I was so very proud of their effort, they got better each game of the event. In one game we had to play Logan Watts (6yr old kindergartner) the whole game because one of the our regular players was hurt from the first game. 3rd grade girls team had a very good showing losing in the semi-final. These girls are feisty & really get after it. What a joy to watch these midgets :-) flying around all over the place. I want to especially thank Mr. Benny & Mr. Curtis for stepping in to help coach the kids the last game of the event! Thank you also to all of you parents for your positive support of your kids and Team Ichiban Basketball program. We are not perfect, but we are working hard to get it right! Coach Gene Watts |
