What a great summer of
basketball! Ichiban Black won 1 major tournament this year (Cy Fair
Classic). Ichiban Red won a total of 6 different events this year and
finishing 2nd at 2 others. In many of those events the team played up in
age group. The trips to Phoenix and California went very well! When
we went to Phoenix we split the team in order for all players to get more
playing time during the evaluation period (6 players per team). In
California we brought everyone back together to finish up the summer circuit
strong. Out of 48 teams that attended Mike Whites "Showtime Summer
Nationals" we finished 14th. The
players played hard at all times and represented themselves very well. The
phone has already started to ring off the hook with colleges having interest in
several of our players who will be Seniors this up coming school year (Taylor
Collier, "Silk" Okoye & Mykel Bradshaw). I
would like to thank Kosse Maykus, Ms. Deborah Jackson, Mr. & Mrs. Collier, Mr. &
Mrs. Jordan, and Mr. & Mrs. Bolton who all stepped up time and time again to
help get players where the needed to be for games, team dinners, team breakfast,
team fundraisers, tournaments and whatever plans we made for the girls. Thank
you all again for all of your support!

I would like to thank all of the parents and players who
stepped up this weekend. Team Ichiban Black were in every game this past
weekend, normally leading at half or down by 2 or 3pts. Team went 0-3 for
the weekend, but did some things very well.
Team Ichiban Red went 4-0 in the high school division to
win its 5th tournament event of the season. The teams core group of
players for this weekends event were Merit Sharpe, Sierra Maykus, Morgan Bolton
& Natasha Mbenza. Over the last couple of events the team have begun to
bound into a nice unit normally playing with 5 or 6 players per event. I
would like to thank the players who stepped in and filled holes by others,
Hayley Jordan, Desiree' Conley as well as Christal and Taylor who both stepped
in on Sunday when Merit had to leave for a previous engagement.

What a great weekend of
basketball for the Ichiban club. The Team Ichiban Black team finished with
in 4th place this past weekend, Team Ichiban Red came back thru the loser side
after losing their 2nd game to beat the team that sent them to the losers
bracket. The Ichiban Red team only played with 5 players the whole
weekend. I want to thank Natasha Mbenza for stepping up big at the last
minute to play with the Red team. What these kids did this past weekend
cannot be explained, you would have been had to have been there to witness for
yourself the heart and determination that these young ladies showed the whole
weekend. Team Ichiban boys lost in the Championship game of the GIWYFI
Tournament. These young men every week have continued to improve.
Again what a great weekend of basketball representation of Ichiban Basketball
program by
these young men and women!!!!!

Thank you all!
